The representative from the Nam Phu and Vietnam Institute of Fishery Economic and Planning (VIFEP) had a great pleasure to welcome all participants and SEAFDEC staff. Mr. Dow Viet Long who also served as the moderator for the training workshop asked the participants about their understanding of the concept or meaning of co-management. The then made a presentation on co-management including its meaning, problems, and factors for co-management, after which the participants were divided into four (4) groups, namely: fisheries (2 groups), culture (1 group) and ecotourism (1 group).

Each group was required to conduct as SWOT analysis, set up a plan, and develop the action plan (milestone). In the discussion, each group presented their outputs and received comments from the participants, official of MCD, VIFEP and SEAFDEC.

In the next session, Dr. Phattareeya made a presentation on Co-management in Thailand based on the Crab Bank system and the Baan Pred Nai community forestry group. The participants very actively participated in the discussion that followed and asked various questions on the crab bank system and the Baan Pred Nai. This was followed by a presentation on climate change and risks in aquaculture activities by the Resource Person from MCD. Then participants were divided again into 4 groups for the workshop. After the workshop, each group was requested to present their results.

In addition, the participants also visited the shellfish farming and had a discussion concerning shellfish such as the methods and problems in shellfish culture. Before the workshop closed, the participants shared their experiences, the lessons learned and their future plans.
